They were from New Jersey - Fort Dix I believe area.... They have been coming out more over the last 5 years. They had a few years gap and was coming out regularly before then. Great bunch...

Reply by Guy-O on Fri May 23, 2014 at 8:07 pmI'm aware of just one JROTC group in NJ that's active in orienteering: Colts Neck HS
They drove all the way out to Indiana for the Interscholastics back in April -
Reply by DSevon on Mon May 26, 2014 at 2:14 pmIn addition to Colts Neck, MAST (Marine Academy of Science and Technology) has been a regular at Washington Crossing for the past several years. We've also had units from Rancocas and ACHS attend in 2012.

Reply by Vadim on Fri Jun 6, 2014 at 10:33 pmThat's correct. Only unaffected courses were scored.

Reply by KathleenG on Sat Jun 7, 2014 at 8:06 amBummer. Was it the expanded marshes (due to the rains)? I think most figured a way around those, most better than I did. I'd really like to see this on Route Gadget, too.I'm not sure if I feel it is fair not to score a course due to complaints. The course setters did their best, and vetted it, I am sure. I worked hard to do this course to the best of my (limited) ability. When I saw that the marshes were covering the route I'd planned to take, I swore a little, but I re-thought, and found another route. I'd like to see my muddy, bloody, oath-uttering efforts count. If complaints are based on someone more elite not wanting their overall ranking affected, I'm a bit peeved. If there was a control that was majorly misplaced, that is another issue. However, I found them all (and no, I was not following "elephant trails"), and everything was basically where I expected, based on my reading of the map - and I try very hard to always be in contact with the map.

Reply by furlong47 on Sat Jun 7, 2014 at 11:57 pmThink more in the vein of misnumbered or mishung controls which were corrected. So things would be different for earlier and later starters. I started late and found everything to be okay too. But if everyone doesn't have the same experience, it's not fair to score the event. Throwing it out is the only thing to do.This happened last year at Springton too, on a day when I won the course. Sure, I was disappointed, but it wouldn't be fair to win or score high when others didn't have the same chance. It has happened at A-events (including one West Point course I was running where the wrong clue sheets were on the map) and even at this year's World Cup where courses had to be voided because controls were picked up while people still on course. Sometimes there are mistakes that affect fairness and cannot be fixed in any other way except not scoring the event.
