Last Call for Relay Teams
-
Topic created by Sandy on Thu Apr 17, 2014 at 5:49 pmIt's only about a week to go and I have not heard from many people about their relay team plans for the A event. We have enough DVOAers signed up for the relay to have over a dozen teams and I only have two official team submissions. I know Mac has been working on some teams and I know he plans to get me the information soon. But I need to hear from the rest of you.
Please don't wait until the last minute. We have to get all the information entered into the computer software and trying to do it for everyone the morning of the event will invariably lead to errors and delays.
So, if you have your team, please send me the division (3pt, 6pt or 9pt) and the names of the team members in the order in which they are running. It is helpful if you include the year of birth for each person so I can double check points, and the SI card numbers of each person or a note that they are renting, so I don't have to look them up. But at this point I'll take just the names.
Thanks!

Reply by Mac on Thu Apr 17, 2014 at 6:03 pmGood point(s) Sandy. There is NO need for the dozen or so of you who have already contacted me to respond, as I have some tentative teams in mind and will contact you in the next few days. But again, as Sandy says, those of you who have signed up for a relay and are not forming a team on your own, need to contact me by e-mail ASAP. mtw@macmullan.orgThanksMac

Reply by Guy-O on Fri Apr 18, 2014 at 4:30 amIf asked, Kent can add a points column to the list of registrants. While the points are a bit different, than in past years, it shouldn't take too much tweaking...

Reply by ErikEddy on Fri Apr 18, 2014 at 12:27 pmYes, points would be helpful. Especially for those running up or not running on Sunday where the age is not transparent.
Wh0 are the two official teams submitted? -
Reply by Mac on Fri Apr 18, 2014 at 4:33 pmPoints are easily calculated by simply using the "who's coming" list, look at who's registered for the relay and use the readily available information about how the points are calculated. A summary (the numbers are ages): 17-20 and 40-49 - 1 point; 15-16 and 50-59 - 2 points; under 15 and over 60 - three points; and add 2 points for females. No need for Kent to add a column to anything. Also, you should be making up your teams (or asking me to do it for you) without knowing who has already formed a team, etc. After all, they didn't know what teams were out there when they formed their teams. Let's get this done sooner rather than later.Mac

Reply by furlong47 on Fri Apr 18, 2014 at 9:51 pmBut you can't tell ages from the Who's Coming list ;-) It does not list year of birth. Just because someone registers in a certain class, that doesn't tell you their age, since the categories are open at one or both ends. Juniors can run in an older class (up to age 21) and adults can run in a younger class (after age 35). I see some 1 and 2 point males registered in M-21+ for Sunday.I think people want to know who is already claimed so they don't waste time to consider/ask those people to be on their team.
