My daughter might come down from NYC for it. -
Reply by furlong47 on Thu Jan 16, 2014 at 11:14 pmThe President's Cup event usually has a special twist to it. Normally it is a mass start. Some of the past ones I recall are:map has holes cut in it so you have to navigate blindly through some areasmemory-o section or sections on courseevery charcoal terrace on the map is a control location (with just punches, no bags)a regular 1 hour score-owindows of controls on the course where you can skip a certain number in each window depending on the course you normally runhaving a blank map and a bunch of photos, have to figure out the control locations from photosSo, it can really be almost anything. Usually the twist is a surprise, also, until you get there.

Spoiler alert.
I have heard the suprise is either a ...Silly Walk ... demostration or ... the search for the MP Holy Grail, hidden in the forest somewhere by Sir Vadim of Nottingham. And don't be suprised if a Dead (not sleeping) "Parrot" or a exploding Penquin on top-of-the-'Telly is found at a couch control... Ha Ha! Sounds like Presidential Fun (Run Away, Run Away it's a killer "Rabbit" ( its got sharp fangs (thats for Annie)) but in reality its a stuffed kids Toy!!!. That, and please know your Favorite "Color" corectly to cross the park Bridge... and don't say "I don't know!" :-) -

Reply by Vadim on Tue Jan 21, 2014 at 6:47 pmAs expected, based on last 4 years weather pattern for the President's Cup event, we are getting snow cover on the ground with colder temperatures.

Reply by Vadim on Fri Jan 24, 2014 at 10:58 amAnd the twist for this year President's Cup will be how your score is calculated based on time spend on the course and the "course" (White through Blue) you are usually running. There will be possible credits to the score if you arrive earlier to the finish line as well as penalties if you are late, but those are distributed differently based on the course. Details will be posted here (and on the schedule) later tonight.I'll be using OScore2010 software for the first time and if something does not work right away, please accept that as another twist )))
I'll be printing 50 maps which should be sufficient based on statistics for last several years. -

Reply by Vadim on Sun Jan 26, 2014 at 9:00 pmAnd it really was, a very rare occasion when we run in the white woods, snow white woods.Thank you to all the participants who made it to the park for some fun in the snow. I hope you enjoyed both courses where you had just enough challenges to deal with slower running due to snow, a very short time limit for the Score-O, and exceptionally cross-country Sprint-O in the snow covered fields. Congratulations to Samuel Kolins, the winner of 2014 President’s Cup, who outsprinted others.Thank you to Dan and Zac Barker who helped me with registration while I was setting out few last controls, Mary and Mark Frank for making arrangements with the park, and my truly awesome controls pick up crew Petr Hartman, Samuel Kolins, Ron Bortz, and Dan and Zac Barker. Results are posted and waiting for you ...
