Fort Washington Thank Yous and a BIG Apology

Topic created by Karl on Sun Jun 9, 2013 at 4:18 pmI want to thank everyone that helped with the Fort Washington event today. I am always impressed by how much work goes into an orienteering event and that there are people who step up and help out in such a generous fashion.Sandy Fillebrown has always been so helpful to me with map printing, bagging and then epunch help. Her help was immensely important today.John Gilette handled most of the registration today and then did water stop clean up as well as signage into the park.Mary Frank, of course, for her help at registration after running her course.Kathy Urban got us press today!! And was very helpful in epunch, as usual and always appreciated.Vadim lended his epunch expertise and also his course setting expertise.Bob Agosta handled the vast majority of the starts, getting a number of newcomers off with the right amount of help.My son Ben and his girlfriend, Sarah Stifler, did a lot of control setting, water stop setup and signage, so thanks for that.My wife Sandy setup and ran epunch for this event and I owe her a few dinners for this one, especially since she found the glitch in the software that makes the epunch software freeze. Yuck but thanks for doing that, starts and then control pick up and clean up.My team of control pickup that included the junior men's team of Ethan Childs, Will Hubsch, Zac Barker (and one other that I do not know their name) and DVOA's representative to WOC, Alison Campbell in addition to Dave Urban and the stalwart Petr Hartman. The big apology goes to the Hall family for having too efficient of a control pick up team. I sent the control pick up team out too soon and I interfered with their courses in a huge way. Something always goes wrong at and event, you guys happened to be the recipient of the error today. I am very sorry about it.Thanks to everyone that came out and thanks for the feedback on the courses.Have a great week,Karl Ahlswede

Reply by kathyu on Sun Jun 9, 2013 at 7:24 pmI think we owe the Halls a free run next time, as we left them shivering In The rain at 4 mile circle while their car keys went for a ride in someone's car in the cash box. Talk about bad o luck.

Reply by anniemac on Mon Jun 10, 2013 at 11:18 amFort Washington Brown course was a lot of fun! Thanks for everyone's hard work setting this up (and taking it down.) It was smoothly organized, and good weather never hurts. Also, I'm always impressed by how quickly we get results up. Thanks for that, too!

That would be John Stabler, a 17 y.o. Junior Development Team member from Florida, who is preparing to spend 7 weeks orienteering in Europe.
Ethan & Will will also be over there for 7 weeks. Not sure about Zac or Nate-O, though...
