Reply by kathyu on Tue May 28, 2013 at 9:01 amHeartfelt thanks from me to the event directors, Clem, Sandy and Tom and the cast of thousands who helped, especially Janet who did a fabulous job feeding everyone. DVOA is the best, they really know how to put on a great weekend of orienteering. Even when my scores are not inspiring, I always leave a DVOA event thinking I'll do better next time because I learn from my mistakes. Weekends like Hickory Run leave me tired and beat up, but ready for more. So thank you everyone for your hard work and all the time you put in, it's really appreciated.
ps thanks to the photographers for some great photos -- I've looked at every single one, and loved them all. -

Reply by Sandy on Tue May 28, 2013 at 4:55 pmYes, Doug was able to get RouteGadget up. Note that the circles don't appear until you try to input your route. Then just the controls you went to appear. I'm going to be curious to see what people did.

Many thanks for those folks who came up with the idea, planned, and executed all those great events making use of all the facilities that Hickory Run has to offer.
DVOA is really a first class O- organization and puts on some fine events. The core group is no doubt proud of their ability to make good things happen.
The variety of events over the two days made it a no brainer to mark on the calendar of events to participate in.
I know it's easy to say......much tougher to execute...... but those longer rogaines are really fun and hopefully there will be more of them.
Once again thanks to all who gave their time, effort, and expertise to a great weekend in the woods.
The finisher Towels and Logo where really Cool as well.

Reply by Len on Wed May 29, 2013 at 7:58 amDito on all the other comments. It was very fun. We just didnt get to spend as much time there as we would have liked to with the rest of our holiday weekend schedule. I'm really looking forward to checking out splits and reviewing RG. I hope there are a lot of entries. I know for Max and I, we should have stayed on MAp A the whole time. I think our original map A route would have been more productive... but like Kathy said, you walk away learning more and hoping to do better next time.
Thanks again for all the effort.
PS - those were yummy prizes! -
