Reply by anniemac on Wed Jan 16, 2013 at 10:08 amThere was another dog there; a shelty named Pepper who actually ran the entire Brown course with Robert Hesketh. I saw them out there and was really impressed with her agility.

Reply by kathyu on Wed Jan 16, 2013 at 1:35 pmThe most amazing orienteering pet I ever saw was Rusty the cat. I was completely floored. The best orienteering dog had to be Demon, who we all miss.

Reply by BRycharski on Wed Jan 16, 2013 at 2:16 pmHi All, I Saw "Pepper", such a well behaved loyal and fit dog (I never saw an orienteering dog that was not fit); that's the Doggie at Basto I saw finish the course with Robert Hesketh ... that started this Doscar Category fyi (but forgot the lit'l paws name), and I too was thinking of good old 'Demon' the dog who was such a easy going DVOA pet who let every one at a O meet pet him unless he was hiding from the sun on a hot day under a park table. Thanks all! there still have to be more pet owners (email them to respond please and bring pictures to the Annual meeting) that O run with there pets occassionally (at least one DVOA'er with two light brown labs from central NJ that I recall) ... keep the "nominations" coming in - still, I want to - know more ... how a pet 'Cat' i.e. Rusty, can concentrate on the map and course while running about, maybe the owner attached the O-map to the cat with cat map-cuffs .... must be it takes "cat maps" or something

Reply by BRycharski on Wed Jan 23, 2013 at 0:34 amAll, I regret I am unable to attend this Annual DVOA meeting this saturday at this point (never say never).
PLease bring your Favorite 2012 Orienteering theme Photos and share them at the annual meeting
Maybe someone will step forward (and devise a - fair way) secret vote, [I suggest back of some spare Pink control cards myself] of selecting the DVOA - "DOscar Best" photos!
If its pulled off at the meeting , we request that Anne MacMullan be lent the hard copy .... printed photos or sent the Photos later electronically, or transfer the thumb disk/unit photo file to Sandy Fillebrown please.
If you bring photos, please bring them in an e file (thumb Drive) , loose pages/photos (printed out) or a booklet form, with the name of the photographer and the date, location and O subject identified (sticky notes suggested) ... as much info as U can supply. Remember to take the/still photos home at meetings end.
Bring all photos, drives or computers with same, I have suggested 3 simple categories (to keep this simple)
1 Best 2012 solo Orienteering or Orienteer subject photo (Director, I am ready for my O-Close up!),
2 Best Group Shot of 4 or more persons Orienteering at a 2012 local DVOA event, Cause More "O" is, more Fun!
3 Best Funnie or Just for Fun O - action Photo category; Any 2012 year past O-Photo that does not fit the above 2 categories (sort of best of show, of pets O-running (O barking maybe?) , of best picture of an O flag/control, best Junior photo, muddiest person shots, family shots, whatever good photos you have, this includes the Basto Video Flickr - Rutgers You Tube - December "Movie" with Sandy Fillebrown, Clem and Larry Giest and Dan Barker (don't you think as I do Dan Barker deserved a Best Actor ... " DOscar" for that 2012 video?) .... and or others in that you tube video. Good luck, see You AND Your Camera ... in the Forest!!!. Bob Rycharski
