What a fun event today with a fantastic turnout of 300 regular course participants and 25 challengers for the Ridley Riddle! The atmosphere was electric, and despite early morning fog, the weather cleared in time for the first starters. The Junior Fun(d)raser Refreshments by Janet Porter were a true hit, as many enjoyed hot chololate, hot dogs, and homemade chicken noodle and vegetable soups! We had fifteen on-site membership renewals and new members participate in the Ridley Raffle!
Check out the photos and videos of the event!
None of this would be possible without an All-Star Team that put on a true DVOA production! A big thanks to all who helped at the Event! The highlights included the universally acclaimed courses by the first time course-setter Chris Young, and the fun challenge of the Orienteering Riddle set by Karl Ahlswede! The support and help before the event by Clem McGrath, Sandy Fillebrown, Tom Overbaugh was incredible and speaks to the incredible DVOA community that we have. If I were to compose an Ode to Ridley , it would begin with the list of all the major players in the event, as you will see below. There were also many others, not listed here, who lent a helpful hand during the event in a true show of DVOA spirit—a big think you to all!

Reply by rpboehme on Mon Dec 3, 2012 at 10:05 amA most fun event - it was great walking quickly through the woods, making questionable route choices, socializing and unwinding with the Ridley Riddle! Many thanks to all that helped execute this event - my hope is that we had enough maps!

Great Job Dasha:
Peter and I had a great experience and I have a feeling he will be back for many more events int he Spring. The turnout was great and the weather couldn't have been better. Hoping to work our schedule better next year so that we can participate in the Riddle too!

Reply by edscott on Tue Dec 11, 2012 at 5:54 pmI've just looked over the club event records and Ridley 2012 was the largest ever at Ridley in the category of maps used, or as OUSA calls it "Starts". In the past our All Time Largest local event records have been based on the number of participants where Ridley 2012 was 18 people out of 3rd place. Good location and great marketing.
