We are planning on adding some short quotes to the home page of why we orienteer and why we are DVOA members. The quote should be a single sentence. It will be placed under a photo. So give it some thought while you're out running this weekend. Post it here or add it to the board that will be displayed at Ridley this weekend.

I orienteer because it connects me to and reconfirms for me the very reason for my/our existence. -
Reply by camperpat on Thu Nov 29, 2012 at 7:04 pmI orienteer because is allows me to know my "exact" place in the cosmos and to know who I "beat" to get there!

Reply by MaryFrank on Fri Nov 30, 2012 at 10:29 amI orienteer so I can loose myself on my course, reconnect with nature and refresh myself. The exercise isn't bad either. I also find that the people we are surrounded by are worth being with!!!

Reply by markwalsh on Fri Nov 30, 2012 at 2:02 pmI orienteer for the mental and physical challenages of finding controls in fields and forests I've never been before....always easier the second time back to a location.
I do it at DVOA events....... not because I like to drive..... but because you folks put on so many quality events at so many locations I've never been to.
keep em coming! -
Reply by anniemac on Sun Dec 2, 2012 at 5:31 pmI'd rather be orienteering! DVOA is the best club there is.

Reply by KathleenG on Sun Dec 2, 2012 at 10:40 pmI orienteer because it is a mental challenge, not just physical. "Cunning Running" - except I usually walk!

Reply by Orienteeringmom on Mon Dec 3, 2012 at 10:30 amI orienteer for the challenge to my mind as well as to my body. Also I really enjoy all of the wonderful friends I have made over the years at DVOA and OUSA.

Reply by Len on Wed Dec 19, 2012 at 8:37 amThis took some time to consider and I reflected on what keeps me coming back. Here is what I came up with...
I orienteer for the fun of searching for specific points in the outdoors, the challenge of planning and executing the fastest route, the thrill of moving through the environment on that route, and the satisfaction of completing a course successfully. -

Reply by edscott on Thu Dec 20, 2012 at 5:43 pmYes they are very similar.. except caching can be slow and take all day, but I seem to treat it more like Orienteering.
