Reply by wilburdeb on Sun Nov 13, 2011 at 10:34 pmQuaill Hill is a little jewel. It is small but has lots of open woods mixed with green and dark green areas, contours, water features, nicely trimmed open areas, buildings, fields, lots of trails. And the camp seems to appreciate our presence (hard to find in NJ).

Reply by DSevon on Mon Nov 14, 2011 at 7:48 amFortunately, we didn't have any following trees or lost Scouts this time around, and it seems as if things ran fairly smoothly. For the Scout/JROTC event, we had 107 teams with 208 participants in the woods plus the regular crowd of orienteers.
As with most events, there were some minor hiccups, but the great group of volunteers kept things moving. Thanks to Dan and Zac Barker, Jim Puzo, Ed Scott, Bob and Pat Burton, Bob Rycharski, Doug White, Fred Kreusi, Ed Hicks, Steve Aronson, Sharon Siegler, and a Scout leader.

Reply by Steve on Mon Nov 14, 2011 at 8:31 amGood job Doug and Bob. when I got home last night, there was an e-mail waiting for me from one of the first time scout groups that wanted information about Star Village in two weeks. What could be a better compliment?

Reply by Guy-O on Mon Nov 14, 2011 at 5:12 pmA very well run event, if I do say so!
Question: Were the Scout/JROTC results treated as if they were from an entirely separate event? I couldn't help but notice that there were none in what has been posted so far. -
Reply by DSevon on Tue Nov 15, 2011 at 7:23 amYes, I'm treating the Scout/JROTC results as a separate event, which is what we did with the Washington Crossing Scout/JROTC event. The results will be posted in a pdf file via link from the main event web page. I'm also compiling the results from the combined two day event. I'm waiting on some names of participants to finish the results.

Reply by bobburg on Wed Nov 16, 2011 at 11:35 amA special thank you goes to Doug, who did a yeoman's job running the 2 events, especially with such strange circumstances at WashCrsg. He and Registrar Jerry Smith were on top of the ever-changing numbers of Scouts and JROTC and developed special spreadsheets and registration procedures that will certainly be used in the future.
A big Thank You also to all the enthusiastic Troops and Units and their leaders who made our efforts all worth it.
Thanks so much, Doug, for a very large job well managed at every twist and turn. -
