October 29th and 30th should be a fun filled and busy weekend for orienteering at Washington Crossing State Park. More details will begin to appear soon on the news articles from the home page, but a highlight of the weekend is the debut of an extensively revised map of the park.
Events on Saturday include day 1 of the NJ Scout/JROTC Orienteering Championships, an Ultimate String-O, and a Sprint-O series (3 courses). We currently have 125 participants registered for the youth event and expect the number to climb in the next two weeks.
The planning group has been recruiting DVOA members to work as volunteers got the event. Also from past experiences at this event, we know that a number of Scout leaders will step in to help plus we're expecting some assistance from one of the JROTC units. However, as we all know, more hands make the overall load easier for everyone. If you are interested in helping, either contact me for more details or use the volunteer page to sign-up, http://www.dvoa.org/events/vols/vol.php?sked_id=851
The Saturday courses will be the same ones for Sunday so Saturday volunteers can run a course (plus do the String-O and/or sprint series). Results from courses run on Saturday will be combined into the Sunday results.
Sunday will be a normal DVOA event, which will seem calm compared to the activities from Saturday. However, we'll still need some help to run this event, http://www.dvoa.org/events/vols/vol.php?sked_id=786. The sprint series will also be available on Sunday.
Let's keep our fingers crossed for good weather so come out for a good time in the woods on a new map and please consider volunteering if you can. Thanks! -

If I don't stay up north Sunday and do Ward pond ridge (HVO event but red the longest) I'd be willing to help clear the course afterwards and help in any other post or pre race function ....if I get there or get in early enough.
