Alls Well That Ends Well......Mt Penn

Topic created by rgbortz on Sun Aug 14, 2011 at 2:27 pmA Big Thank You goes out to all that lent a hand for this very satisfying rare Saturday event. The attendance was on par for what is to be expected for Saturday. So thanks to everyone that came out.
This event would not have happened if not for Ed Scott. He deserves credit for pushing to get an Event Director and a Course Setter and then going through the gauntlet in tracking down the person responsible for getting permission to use Egelman's Park.
Ed also came out Friday to lend a hand with setting controls. No muggers were to be found anywhere.

Continuing with Thank Yous
I gave Kathy Urban a hug for all of us as she once again headed up e-punch and as I just found out stayed up very late to get results reported. The other half of this dependable duo, Dave Urban, diligently watched after registration. Mary Plunkett, I believe, snuck in a little help at registration/e-punch.
Ali Bortz helped at e-punch for a considerable time.
A few last minute surprises were Ed Neiman Mark Frank and Anthony Knarr.

Reply by rgbortz on Sun Aug 14, 2011 at 2:50 pmEd manned registration for a while and kept an eye on e-punch.
Mark was a pleasant early arrival. After helping out with setup he, as usual, gravitated to helping out the newbies with introduction/instruction.
My favorite surprise of the day was my grandson, Anthony, who showed up with Oma ( Ali ). Without him I would have been a one man control pickup team. We managed to get all the contols in (ask me about that story ) even though the last 8 were in the pouring rain.
Mom Frolenko and kids also picked up a few controls; in the first rain of the day.
One flag and SI box was dropped by yours truely in the pouring rain with glasses so fogged up I don't know how I found my way out of the woods. It was retreived this morning. -
Reply by rgbortz on Sun Aug 14, 2011 at 3:03 pmThis event had many opportunities to be cancelled. Event Directors must always keep in mind the willingsness of the fine people in this club to step forward and help out even up to the last second. For all the planning one does sometimes circumstances just don't allow those plans to work out, but when you know you are in the company of good people All Will End Well
With Gratitude To All

Reply by rgbortz on Sun Aug 14, 2011 at 7:10 pmSince this was my third go at posting this thread it figures a few recognitions would fall through the cracks.
Clem McGrath did a fine job with course setting as evidenced by the comments on the previouse Mt Penn thread.
Fred Kruesi printed the maps.
Anybody I missed here my apologies to you.
How about that weather yesterday............Did we luck out or what.
Thanks again to all for you help. -
