Glen and I took part in the first three Babcock Bog and Boulder (BBB) Challenges which are held on 1:15000 O-grade maps in a very interesting area of western PA, northwest of Bedford; a bit over 3 hours from the Allentown area or 3 hours from the King of Prussia interchange of the PA Turnpike. It offers 3-hour and 6-hour rogaine classes in a boulder strewn, mostly open forest and marsh area, with not a lot of climb. Lots of fun. Here's the information we received about this year's event, if anyone wants a change of pace (there's a tentative DVOA event at Merli-Sarnoaki on the calendar for Sunday of that weekend and Iron Hill is he day after the Raccoongaine he mentions): ------------------------ In 2026, WPOC will be offering the 5th Babcock Bog & Boulder Challenge, much as we did in 2025. The 5th Babcock Bog & Boulder Challenge will be held on Saturday April 25 in the Babcock Division of Gallitzin State Forest (near Windber PA). There will be a 3-hour and a 6-hour race on the same day with both starting at 11 am. As usual, you will find this terrain relatively flat, rocky, marshy and bigger by about 500 acres; you can read the details at http://www.wpoc.org/3bc-ad.php Registration for this event will open at noon on March 1. [I will send you a reminder about registration about a week before it opens.] You may also want to consider our other rogaine style event, Raccoongaine, which will be held on March 28. You can read all about it at http://www.wpoc.org/raccoongaine.php If you have any questions about either of these events, feel free to write back. Jim Jim (at) wpoc.org
