Topic created by Pollio1305 on Wed Jan 22, 2025 at 9:29 amIs there an available map for the Broad Creek Permanent Course? Brand new to orienteering since my son has been working on his merit badge so my apologies if I am just not looking in the correct place.

Reply by JanetT on Thu Jan 23, 2025 at 9:36 amI don't see it listed on our Permanent Course page (under Educate and Train on the old Home page), but there's a contact link on that page which is the best place to ask the question:

Reply by Steve on Thu Jan 23, 2025 at 11:26 amWelcome to the club. Be very careful, time wandering in the woods can be very addicting.Check with your council leaders. While DVOA does not have a map of Broad Creek, it is possible that the camp made an in house map for you.

Reply by furlong47 on Thu Jan 23, 2025 at 2:12 pmBroad Creek is a Quantico Orienteering Club map, so check with them. I don't know if there's a permanent course or what type of shape it might be in.

Reply by Gillettejw on Sun Feb 2, 2025 at 6:26 amGood morning and welcome to Orienteering! Broad Creek Memorial Scout Reservation does have a number of Courses and an updated Map. The map is available in printed form at the Rosenberg Center where you check in for camp at Camp Saffran (they used to be under the glass of a coffee table by the fire place) The maps were available for a nominal fee. The maps were also available at the trading post when it was open. The unique nature of the map is it encompasses the full reservation (Oest, Saffran, Spencer) and it has all of the points so you can run an indefinite number of courses. The map has recommended courses for beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Contact me directly at gillettejw@gmail.com or text at 516-782-1015 if you would like more information. Yours in Orienteering and Scouting, John G
