Topic created by Orienteer7 on Wed Sep 20, 2023 at 5:01 amWe have received a request to teach orienteering at the Temple Ambler campus from my contact at the school. (See not below). I have completed the campus map last spring but may need to do a little more work if the demolition of a couple of buildings was done as planned over the summer. DVOA is already hosting the Navy Junior ROTC Area 4 Orienteering Championships at Green Lane that day so neither Mary or I can support Temple on this request. This would be the first use of the new campus map and it would be great to get a chance to introduce Temple students to orienteering. To simplify the event the training kit could be used so no requirement to have a working knowledge of sport ident software. It would be great to have a 2-3 people so that time can be spent with the students explaining orienteering while some are going out. If you already plan to help at Green Lane it is possible to go to Temple after the morning event as they would like the program after 4pm. If you can help please contact me at orienteer7 at aol dot com.Mark Frank(Temple Request below)Mark:I wanted to provide an update as the semester is moving quickly! We have changed our date for the Great American Campout event. It is now taking place on October 21st-22nd. The event will begin at 2pm. We have the Science of Scary also taking place that will run from 2-4pm. If anyone from DVOA is available, I would love to have an introduction to orienteering activity set up sometime after 4pm. We could also do another activity focused on “making navigation not scary.” We can provide a table so that you can recruit more members and promote upcoming events.
