We received a note recently from Frank Caputo's cousin.  I am copying the note below.

    *************
" I am Carl Bloemker, Frank's first cousin. I lived across the street from him and we were like borthers. I am very sorry to have to tell you that Frank died in September 2020. He and my aunt Betty loved orienteering and were constantly talking about it. They were always looking forward to the next meet and seeing good friends. From talking with Frank, I believe West Point was his favorite.   Next time you are running a course and hear footsteps and breathing and see no one, it is Frank and my aunt Betty in heaven running alongside you. "
    *************

Francis "Frank" Caputo Jr. worked for the Philadelphia Medical Examiners Office and was a long-time mummer member of the Oregon NYA.   Frank & Betty were DVOA "Ringo" Service Award winners in 1997.

Frank's Mom Betty passed away in 2014.  The two of them were mainstays at our events back in the pin-punch days and could be found helping out around registration, start and finish.  They were never competitive but enjoyed socializing at events and the club became like family to them.  Frank developed serious back problems that kept Betty and him from being able to get to events. We know they both missed and loved DVOA.  Those that were able to attend Betty's funeral saw that she had requested to be buried in her favorite DVOA shirt.

I know those who knew them will be saddened by this news but we should also celebrate the fun family gatherings we had with them in times past.
