Thank you Lena for so quickly getting RG up and ready (as you always do).  As CS I have invesd interest in seeing how everyone navigated their courses.  So I encourage everyone who came to Quail Hill to join in and record your routes, whatever your course level or success. J

The day’s weather ended up far better than forecasts earlier in the week promised – sunny all day edging into the mid-40’s – what more could you ask from a mid-December day?  And despite steady (but not extreme) winds at our hilltop staging area, the conditions were noticeably nicer for everyone as they descended into the woods on their courses.  While lower camp areas were certainly soggy, I didn’t hear of anyone losing their shoes in seasonal marshes. J

And I want to praise how our staff all day delivered the event to guarantee everyone’s enjoyment.

First I want to commend how ED Meg Hammond consistently managed the event, staying on top of details leading up to Sunday, including sharing set-up with me on Saturday through arriving early Sunday, repeatedly and cheerfully expediting all sorts of changing logistics, through to final pick- up and pack-up at end of day. Thank you so much, Meg.

Mary Frank took great care setting up the e-system prior to the event as well as running it throughout the morning rush, then after running a course, closed the day on the computer all while lending valuable experienced attention to details throughout the day. Thank you Mary for your committed care for all our events.

Pat and Bob Burton (bless your hearts…and garage) housed and delivered our kit the past two weeks, arriving early Sunday to help set up everything and taking care of all sorts of details you saw needing attention including end of event pack-up, and spent the day in best of spirits as you always do, welcoming and helping everyone you crossed paths with.  Thank you two NJ partners so much.

Dave Morgan showed up early both back-to-back NJ Sundays (thank you very much), lent useful hands throughout the day as well as regaling us with your experience of your courses.  Thank you for you wonderful company and help.

Robert Frank and Patty Carrigan and the Burtons managed Start during the morning rush.  Then Patty took over the computer while Mary was out in the woods fitting in a tutorial with Sam.

And an appreciative shout-out to Colts Neck, MAST, and Passaic JROTC units who comprised the majority of our attendees.  All of them seemed to have a great time, and left the event enthused.  I have heard that 80% of success is showing up and you all are doing that well.

The pick-up crew made gathering up everything easy….Pat and Bob in a nearby area, Sam and Lena in the most distant area (which happily matched their favorite part of the woods), with Petr and Meg covering east and west ends of the camp, while I swept up the controls between them…where I found the new water bottle I had “lost” during set-up on Saturday.  Happy happy joy joy.

Then Sam and Lena packed up their car with the kit, readying it for Tamanend Upper Southampton Park next Saturday.  Best wishes for your season-ending event.

Official results of the HVO/DVOA Dual meet are here.   While DVOA did well and won again (yay!), we are looking forward to a healthier compeitition with increased participation by HVO members in the future.

Want to help make that happen?  Check out HVO's web page, and consider joining some of their future events to increase DVOA/HVO cross polination.
