Fair Hill Thanks

Topic created by sfmones on Mon Nov 22, 2021 at 4:18 pmI would like to thank all the individuals who made the Mid-Atlantic Championship event at Fair Hill possible. First, of course, is Tom who designed the courses (classic and relay), hung all the controls, pulled controls, helped clean up, and was involved in nearly everthing else during the event. Sam and Lena ran the two sets of computers like mission control at Space-X. Vadim assisted on the computers as well. Dave Morgan helped at registration and everywhere else. Mary and Mark Frank helped at registration, start, and everything in between. Julie Keim helped at registration when things got hectic. Wyatt maintained order during the wild relays. Patrick Shannon, Joey MaGarvey, Ernie Schubert, and Ian Whitehead helped pull controls as the sun was setting. Greg Lennon brought the "Broken Compass" award and suggested the off year of 2020 be inscribed "COVID."Among the unforeseen incidents was the sudden appearance of four horses (with riders) near our pavilion next to our welcome banner. It turns out the banner was hung on a hitching post, not what I thought was just an odd fence in a weird place. Hey, I don't run into many hitching posts in my everyday life. The only hitching posts I see are in movie westerns in front of saloons, and I didn't see any saloons at Fair Hill. The riders were polite about it, but the horses expressed their displeasure non-verbally.Having what was essentially back-to-back events on the same day at the same place may have befuddled me at times (more than usual), and I apologize if I have overlooked any individuals inadvertently. And, I understand that QOC won the relay, and DVOA won the overall event.Steve
