How to get both symbolic and textual control descritions to print for WY?

Topic created by o-maps on Tue Mar 22, 2011 at 8:33 pmIn Condes, I'm not able to figure out how to print control descriptions for White and Yellow like we normally do, with the symbols in the 8 columns and a textual description to the right. Anyone know how to do this? I'm sure it's in there somewhere, I just can't seem to find it.
Thanks! -

Reply by hughmac4 on Tue Mar 22, 2011 at 9:42 pmHi, I don't believe it's possible to have both in the same table in Condes. You can do textual or symbolic, but not both. To do both you can use Clue (http://www.dvoa.org/events/evdir/clue/index.php), or you can just do textual for WY and symbolic for the rest in Condes.
To be sure on how: to change whether a course prints as textual or symbolic, choose Edit Courses from the left menu, select the course (say Yellow, or whatever), right-click in the map somewhere and Edit Course ... click on the appropriate Textual or Symbolic radio button on the left side under Appearance. You can do fancy stuff with classes, as well, see the Help for that.
You COULD have it do both in two separate clue boxes if you're printing on the map itself by doing a default symbolic description box (automatic), and then in a course click the "New Control Description" icon from the icons on the right side of the map. Then click in the map, choose "This Course Only", click on the Appearance tab and change to Textual. Now you've got both on the same map! You could create the text one first, then a symbolic one and drag the symbolic one on top of the textual one, carefully lining them up so that only the text part of the textual one sticks out from under the symbolic one. Sheesh. Too much work!
Good luck!
