A repeat of the July 2006 D.B.H. Spell-O is scheduled for Feb. 13th in polar ( literally ) opposite conditions encountered at the 2006 event. Sitting here now on Jan 29th looking out my front door it looks like this time around will probably be a snowshoe/ski-O. I am willing to set the controls out regardless of the weather ( I love the outdoors, especially under what most people call adverse conditions ). The question will be if the road conditions allow people to get to Boone and if you will come.
There will be a twist or two added this time to stir up things and make the courses a little different ( besides the weather ) for those who attended in 2006.
If you don't have skis but really want to get outside and enjoy a beautiful winter wonderland snowshoes really aren't that expensive, they even make snowshoes for running. Check it out and come have some fun.
SOoooooo, in order to make this event happen I need to see interest. Twenty participants is about the minimum. Please respond to this posting and pass the word to anyone you think might like to get out of the "cabin" and cure their fever.
Can someone do public notice in newspapers or whatever ?
If we get  somewhat of a thaw foot-O may be an option.
Please repond and let me know what you think.

There will be ( as before ) two courses offered, a long and short. This is strictly a FUN event to get outside. The only competition will be with yourself to see how much fun you can have. Finishing by the rules is not imperative. There will be a mass start at 12:00 noon, so try to be there by 11:30 as there will be instructions prior to the start. All controls are white and yellow level placement with trails and open areas the only legal means of travel.

    See you there ?
    Ron

I found some snowshoes to borrow, it'll be fun.  But publicity is not so easy, 2 weeks is pretty short notice for a newspaper, esp when details are fuzzy (20 participants?  roads clear enough?  snowshoes or ice or mud or skis? non-traditional O?) BUT I suggest getting Guy or Julie to get the word out to SVO and perhaps a poster at the park if there is a bulletin board.  This will be pin punch, right?
