Topic created by ErikEddy on Fri Nov 7, 2014 at 4:48 pmAttention DVOA juniors!
The US Junior Executive Steering Committee is excited to announce the formation of a Mid Atlantic Regional Junior Orienteering Team. The team is open to all junior orienteers (under 21) who are excited about the sport and are interested in getting better through training and racing, all while creating a group of friends from around the region.
The team will be led by experienced coach Boris Granovskiy. Boris is a 6 time World Orienteering Championship qualifier for the US and has posted individual finishes as high as 45th place. He has won many US orienteering championships as a Junior and Elite orienteer. As a coach Boris has worked with US National athletes Alex Jospe and Ross Smith, and was responsible for Women’s relay teams in 2013 for the prestigious orienteering club OK Linne in Sweden. Boris has extensive knowledge of European orienteering approaches and training systems and brings vast experience to his new role as Mid-Atlantic Regional Junior Team Coach. We are excited to have such an experienced coach working with the Junior Program.
Boris will be leading an informational session about the Regional Team program and specifically reaching out and talking to juniors and parents in the Mid-Atlantic Region who are interested in being on the team. The information session will happen at the Quantico Orienteering Club’s National A-Meet on Saturday November 15, immediately after the award ceremony. The Mid-Atlantic Region includes the areas covered by the following clubs: QOC, SVO, DVOA, and CVOC. If you cannot attend this session please contact Boris with your questions and interest in participating at boris.granovskiy@gmail.com.
Sincerely,
Junior Executive Steering Committee.
