Although we will be going to NAOC and miss FCE this weekend I wanted to put in a plug for the event.
Bob Gross has designed some challenging and fun courses.  I had the opportunity this week to flag placements for some of the green and red courses and the woods I traverded were absolutely spectacular.Only wish I could be in two places at one time.  If your on the fence after my courses at FCS a few weeks ago I would put FCE back on your "TO-DO" list for this weekend.

And to clarify the "FCE" venue, we have pieced together a "new" map that includes the best woods that is accessible from the Baptism Creek parking area and called it French Creek- Shed Road.  I'm guessing there will still be plenty of opportunity to bash through the green if you really want to, but it will not be required.

As Ed said we have a custom 1:10000 Shed Road map for the event. No more squinting to see the details on your FCE map this weekend. Course details are on the schedule.

I could sure use some help to run the show. Sign up on the volunteer page or reply to this message. I need an epunch crew and second shifts at all the stations. We expect some scout groups so instructors will also be needed.

    Thanks in advance

    See everyone Sunday.

And if you are going to FCE this Sunday, please consider giving an extra hour to volunteer at the event. Many of the 'usual suspects' (the folks whose faces you usually see in the volunteer roles) will be at NAOC, so we need some new people to step up.
    No experience necessary!
Please go to the event page (you can get there by clicking on the date under Upcoming Events listing on the home page), then click on the link Volunteer to help at this event to see what needs to be done.
Registration is a great way to get to know your fellow orienteers; control pick-up lets you practice your orienteering skills off the clock.
I've signed up to work at e-punch. I hope to see you on Sunday!

I put out some of the Red & Green controls this morning. Saw some beautiful woods... the way most of French Creek used to be.  If you've never seen the northwestern parts of the old French Creek East map, you won't want to miss this chance to run there.

Trying to find start location. In French Creek with a group of scouts, not finding signs or markers anywhere. Currently at pool.

Event notes say to look for signs off of Rt. 345. I'm not sure is registration is off of Shed Road or Hopewell Rd. Signs should be up by now. Good luck!

Looks like we need some text added to the schedule page to tell people that clicking on the underlined map name on the schedule page sends you to a map with the parking/registration location marked with a red pin.
