Topic created by sfmones on Tue May 8, 2012 at 5:35 pmThere may have been some orienteering activity up the Hudson River this weekend, but for about 600 Scouts, French Creek was the place to be. Ed, Mark, Mary, and others did the heavy lifting, and some of us helped out around the edges. It is always fun to be at the Finish to see who and what comes across the line. Had there been a category for "best costume" (in orienteering?), the award would have gone to the two young ladies who ran a course dressed as "minions" from the movie "Despicable Me." Another standout was the young man who turned in something that vaguely resembled a soggy brown "pink card" - he mumbled something about falling in mud, and was wearing the evidence to prove it. I am glad he didn't go home in my car. Once again, amazingly, all starters were eventually present or accounted for, although there were a couple of stragglers who came in after the start of the afternoon Score-O. I understand that next year will be the 25th anniversary of this event - that is something of which the club - and especially Ed - can be proud. Also thanks to those who, unlike me, came back to help work the regular event on Sunday.
