Topic created by DSevon on Mon Mar 5, 2012 at 7:13 amGood news for GPS watch users who like to upload their routes. I have the georeferencing procedures [which is the task of establishing the relationship between an image and map coordinates] figured out now so routes should upload much better now. Let me know how it works.

Reply by Steve on Mon Mar 5, 2012 at 6:54 pmI bought myself a garmin for my birthday, and this is the first time I have tried to post with it. When I click on GPS, The screen asks what format, at which time I say GPX. Next I list the file that I have downloaded from my garmin site and click on enter. The map reappears, but my course does not. I even shrank the map to it's smallest size.
Last night I was playing with my new toy, before you had posted the results or the RG page. I went back in time to a 2009 Ft Washington event and loaded my course there, but did not save it for obvious reasons. It worked fine there, but I had to use the blue buttons.
i don't know if it is you or me, but I have not posted my course yet.

Reply by WindWalker on Mon Mar 5, 2012 at 8:11 pmSadly for me when I went to start my watch yesterday it said battery low. So no GPS RG for me. Worst part was it was charging overnight beforehand. Talked with Garmin today and they gave me some things to try before it gets sent home for a rebuild.
Looking forward to trying the new easy to use system. Thanks Doug.

Reply by FredH on Mon Mar 5, 2012 at 10:48 pmLike Steve, I too can't find my GPS track (on Brown) or Haythem's track on Yellow despite shrinking the map an searching all around. But the same proceedure worked fine regarding last week's run at Pohick Bay (QOC)... though it does appear that others have succeeded w/ GPS on Brown this week. This is puzzling.Let us know if there are any tricks we should be trying!... and Thanks for taking on the fix, it will be GREAT to have it working--FredH!

Reply by Steve on Mon Mar 5, 2012 at 11:56 pmI went back and downloaded my file as a TCXand found success. It was not geo-referenced though, and I had to play with the blue dots. Unfortunatley I managed to add some waypoints to my watch when I got home. I followed Julie's intructions to delete them in the GPX file, but could not do so in the TCX, so there is a red line that leaves the finish circle and goes to Bethlehem.

Reply by DSevon on Tue Mar 6, 2012 at 10:59 pmMy aplogies to everyone who tried to upload GPS tracks as the issues are due to a mistake that I made. Essentially, I referenced the Fort Washington map to a location near Des Moines, Iowa. This would explain why tracks appear to upload, but then you couldn't find them. As Steve mentioned, the tcx format will work for this event. I may or may not have figured out my mistake in time for French Creek on Sunday.
