Summer Picnic
-
Topic created by Sswede on Tue Jun 15, 2010 at 7:55 amThe Schuylkill Center does not want us to grill any food in the park, so please bring precooked or other ready to serve foods for the picnic. Also, in years past people have brought desserts with an orienteering theme (i.e. a cake decorated with a control). Feel free to be creative!

Reply by BRycharski on Tue Jun 15, 2010 at 10:12 amCould some one please enter/post in the general agenda for the Map Hike/relay and when the Picnic starts and when any official DVOA meeting starts (at the summer meeting) ? Rough start times are OK.

Please read the other topic called "Schuylkill Center Phone-O and Summer Meeting" on the e-board. It has more details. -

Info is also available on the home page on the left hand side. By the way, the relay starts at 11:30 sharp. White course starts are 11-1200. The picnic starts when the relay is wrapped up.

Reply by Sandy on Tue Jun 15, 2010 at 1:45 pmAnd the summer meeting usually starts not too long after the picnic starts, i.e. happens while people are still eating.

Reply by Orienteeringmom on Wed Jun 16, 2010 at 7:36 pmCan anyone tell me if the Schuylkill Center allow dogs in the park? We are coming up from Corinne's and might have our dog with us. Of course she would be leased and cleaned up after.

Reply by Sswede on Thu Jun 17, 2010 at 7:41 amFrom the SCEE website: Please note that pets, eating, and smoking are prohibited on the trails.
It doesn't say anything about the pavillion area, however, I would email the park staff at:
scee@schuylkillcenter.org just to be sure. -
Reply by Sswede on Fri Jun 18, 2010 at 10:44 amFYI: I learned today that the bathrooms in the SCEE office will only be available form 11am to 2pm on Sunday. Our picnic will most likely go later than this, so be aware that "last call' for bathrooms will be before 2pm.

Reply by KathleenG on Fri Jun 18, 2010 at 8:41 pmThere are a couple of port-o-potties over near the driveway/parking lot. I can't vouch for how often they are cleaned, but they are there.
