Hibernia Logging

Topic created by furlong47 on Wed Sep 9, 2020 at 12:15 pmNot sure if we were aware of this? I see a Hibernia event on the calendar next month. Sounds like most areas affected are West of the big area of fields and toward the lake. Someone told me about this after I suggested they try some permanent courses and they chose Hibernia. Apparently there is damage to markers 7 and 9 from the logging operation.

Reply by camperpat on Wed Sep 9, 2020 at 3:37 pmYes. we went hiking there in March, they were putting water and restrooms in the upper campground, but most trails were open at that time. Things may have changed since then , and hopefully they are done!

Reply by ragosta on Sun Sep 13, 2020 at 3:22 pmThis is scheduled park maintanence logging activity, due to be completed by the end of September. Some trails were closed, Monday through Thursday, then open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I visited the park today (Sunday, 9/13) and all control markers for the permanent orienteering courses are intact except #9. It was aparently knocked over during the logging activity. It is currently prop'd against a nearby tree - we'll plan on reinstalling it once they're finished up at the end of the month.
