Welcome to the second try of the White Clay Creek event. This event was originally scheduled for December 1, 2019, but was cancelled due to inclement weather. Although it is raining as this is being typed (Friday), the current forecast for Sunday is sunny with temperature in the mid-50s. We are hoping the second time is the charm.
Course setter Ron Wood designed White through Red courses based on extensive field checking of the park. Although the WCC map was updated only a few years ago for an A-Meet, it has evolved somewhat since then. Ron has personally checked the trails and terrain to ensure access to control locations. The courses are a little shorter than normal due to the anticipated original winter event date and the fact that WCC tends to be “green.” On the other hand, WCC has an excellent trail network with distinctive terrain which could make moving up a course a viable option for many orienteers. Course specifications are as follows:

We are hoping for a good turnout to take advantage of the (we hope) sunny weather. We recognize there are a number of other factors at the moment, including health concerns involving group activities. Hand sanitizer will be available along with the usual water and snacks. We ask that people exercise care and sensitivity with regard to snacks and water. Please do not drink directly from water jugs on the courses, and pour out any loose snacks instead of just reaching hands into containers. These are just common sense precautions.
Please also note that clocks move forward one hour as of Sunday.
We look forward to the start of the Spring DVOA season with WCC being the first regular event of the year.
