Wednesday Evening #3: Norristown State Hospital
-
Topic created by Sandy on Sun Jun 11, 2017 at 7:21 pmThis week the Wednesday night event will be at Norristown State Hospital. Be aware that this is the hospital and not the more frequently used farm park. Check the event information for detailed directions and a description of where we will be parking.
Also, note that we will not have any access to bathrooms at the parking area. And if it rains, registration and epunch will be out of my car as there are no shelters, either.
But on the positive side, we will have SIAC air punching for those of you with the latest generation of the SI-cards, or SIAC, which allows you to "punch" by gettng your SI-card within about a foot of the control. All older models of SI-cards still work perfectly fine with the controls but I have upgraded the controls to work with SIAC. I'll have some demos out for people to try so they can see how it works.
Hope to see you there!

Reply by kathyu on Wed Jun 14, 2017 at 9:14 pmThank you Sandy and Scott. The Wednesday evening series was a great idea, and everyone seems to be enjoying it very much. The courses tonight were fun and interesting and the venue was spooky. What a place for a Halloween night o.

Reply by Sandy on Wed Jun 14, 2017 at 10:16 pmAnd thank you Kathy for coming and helping! Kathy and Dave Uban and Roger and Andrea Hartley showed up early and helped set up and man registration, epunch and start all evening with Corrinne Mayland filling in at epunch for a while and Kirstin being the official photographer. Thanks everybody for pitching in all evening! Control pickup was a breeze thanks to Karl Ahlswede, John Campbell, Erik Eddy, Corrinne and Kirsten, Dave and Nate Ohrwaschel. Thanks for making the evening stress free and fun for me!!
Next Wednesday evening event is Nate's at Hibernia. And for the following week at Ridley the MacMullans - Annie, Hugh and Mac - have taken on the course setting and event directing duties.
Thanks everyone for coming out and making these a great success. -

Very cool urban orienteering. Good navigational test at high speed with odd shaped buildings and stairs/fences/uncrossable walls...especially since I didn't study the map before
. Kudos! Totally worth a weekend event sometime.Of course, this got me thinking of other possible similar venues. I see 'Hill School' boarding school in Pottstown on our map list... anybody know anything about that?
