If you are planning on helping at the MASOC event this coming Saturday I would appreciate hearing from you by email at orienteer7 at aol dot com.  We have about 600 registered at this time.   We plan on using epunch on all courses except the White Course 1 which has over 110 starts.   We will have a separate finsih chute for epunch versus pin punch so we will not be as hectic at the finish as in past years. WE still need checking and calculations to be done for pin punch finishes.
Some of you have already told me you would be there...Steve M., Bob G., Julie K., Tim W., Rob F.  Some others I may have forgotten if you told me a while back.  Please just send me a quick email note so I can make sure we have enough help.
Also, I will need someone for registration and epunch on Sunday.  Mary will not be there as Michelle has a tournament in Harrisburg.  I have not checked the volunteer list on the site so I will do so.

Have not heard from many members.  Eric has volunteered to help with epunch on Sunday(hopefully to start at 10am) need 2 more or someone who can work the remainder of the event...otherwise we will be using pin-punch since all controls will have pin punches for the score event on Saturday.  Time to commit if you can.  send me an email at orienteer7 at aol dot com.  If no additional epunch volunteers ... I will post here Saturday evening if we are using pin-punch.

So I just checked the volunteer list and Sam Kolins has volunteered for epunch...would like a third.
At present hopefully Eric can be there to start the event and Sam can pick-up after him.  It would be great if someone could do the late shift in the afternoon.   Eric and Sam let me know if this works.

It is my understanding per a note from Sam Kolins that he will be there early to do the first shift of epunch. Hopefully Eric can do 2nd shift and then possibly John Gillette can hold down the 3rd shift....sorry those that were looking forward to and pin-punch flashback event but it appears we stay in the now.

I'll be there around 9:30 to help with early registration on Sunday.  I'll need to bail out around 11-11:30.

MASOC worked out very well.  Epunch was used on all but the Cub Scouts and Tenderfoot Boy Scouts categories with zero lost punches.  A super job by John Gillette and his helpers to pave the way to an all epunch MASOC sometime in the near future.  We now know ways to streamiline a couple procedures, but all in all it went extremely well.  Yes there were a couple raindrops here and there, but the day was mostly rain free and everyone seemed to have a good time.

Next year is "MASOC 30" so start spreading the date of May 5, 2018  to anyone connected with Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts.  Send addresses via email or snail mail, to Mark or me, to get them on our mailing list which will go out in the late fall.

    So many kids without maps...
Does each group only get one?
If so, it is out of concern that the kids might split up?

Guy, each team receives one map for the morning course, and another map for the score o in the afternoon. Everyone goes home with a map.
