It was a great day in the woods today.  Thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers and Bob, our Course Setter, we ran 192 participants through the courses today in a smooth and efficient manner.  First of all, thanks to Bob Burg for updating the map and designing 7 great courses.  Thanks also to Bob for reaching out to his JROTC contacts to increast the number of participants for the day.  Thanks to Pat and Bob Burton for their phenomenal support throughout the day.  They were truly jacks of all trades....stuffing maps, setting up, registering, staring, and cleaning up.  They were truly MVPs.  Thanks to Mark Frank for brining extra punches and set-up items.  Mark also filled in at a number of positions.  Dave Morgan helped out at Registration and Bob Rycharski provided instruction to our many new Scouts.    Finally, thenks to our clean up crew who made pick up and departure go smoothly: Dave and Kathy Urban, Petr Harman, Mark Frank, Pat and Bob Burton, Bob Burg, and Dave Morgan.  We had a small crew today, but they had big shoulders and it made for a smoothly run and enjoyable event.  Looking forward to our next event in less snowy conditions.

What a beautiful day at Quail Hill!   Yes,  there was snow  but the Sun was out all day and we had a really nice day with hot chocolate and soup .  Everyone had a good time and we even had lots of new people who braved the snow and slush to try out a white course!  And they all finished!  Thanks to everyone who helped  and it was good to see our club people.

Hi DVOA Bench warmers, you missed a great time at Quail Hill.  thanks again to the DVOA volunters, the quality of the nice helpers offset the need for more volunteers.  That said, I do hope any news or DVOA club news hints that new members conside rVolunteeeerinngggg every at every 4th event they attend, or more often then that .  Do not under estimate the needs of DVOA, at small and large venues.  As Kent an Caroline Ringo said to me, we are here to Help YOU!   Bob Rycharski  ( a long time ago (in a short drizzle) at Quail Hill in the early 2000's) and I will always remember there true volunteer sentiment.  So be generous with your spare time before or after your 2017 O  run.  And don't be shy, most job at the event day are easily learned.

Thanks and even though I siipped, slided (down the hilly slopes), and had my glasses remmoved by a whippy branch,  and had two soakers shoes at finish, Bob Burg courses were awesome, Number 11 green  was hard to find;  reentrent surrounded by 5-6 roots stocks, so I got suckered in to vitually runnig around the flag 1.5  times to my befuddlement, but it was me not the CS whom is to blame.  The largenewly mapped  rootstock was amazing too, if it was not larger than the advertized 4 meters tall I will eat my O shoes.. Huge.  it was a O run/course  and day to remember.   Thanks John and Bob Burg

Great event and great weather at QH yesterday!!!
(We'll download it again next year so that you all can come check it out.)

Personally, I apologize for the crusty snow that attendees faced earlier in the day -- made the courses as demanding as running in loose sand at the beach (though colder).  Ironically, during Pick-Up the surface crust had melted and the going was so much easier.  If only we had that in the a.m.

Thanks to all who came out to run a course, and especially to our very special staff of volunteers.  Some of you signed up for it, while others just showed up and helped.  Thank you all so so much.

And extra thanks to John Gillette who last year brought order and sanity to our previously chaotic (i.e. lengthy) Registration, and led our group again this year.  So much easier to have fun when things go smoothly.

And everyone who came, please draw your course on Route Gadget once it's up and running.
