Topic created by ErikEddy on Sat Mar 4, 2017 at 10:54 amThe orienteering season kicks off this weekend with a score-o at Daniel Boone Homestead. I've simplified my original idea so here is what to expect:Register 11-11:45. Mass start at Noon. Start with an opening activity that makes use of the historical area in a scavenger hunt type challenge to earn your map and get off onto the score coure. You have until 2 PM to find as many controls as possible. All controls are worth the same points.If you haven't been to Daniel Boone before, expect to check out a very nice historical site but be prepared for some thick woods. Most of the controls are near trails so route choice including control order, time management and precision entry is key.

Reply by edscott on Sun Mar 5, 2017 at 7:14 pmEnjoyed the course especially the four in the relatively mature forest in the SW part of the map. Was very lucky to stumble onto a very distinct and open deer trail that runs from that area back to the old nursery fields.

Andras Revesz is the winner of the 50th anniversary Daniel Boone adventure!I was missing a time/card for Melinda Distefano. Bob Gross might be the true winner for getting some action shots of the event!

Reply by LarryG on Fri Mar 10, 2017 at 0:32 amNice! Subtracting a negative penalty turns it into Bonus points. I needed that after my return route hit a big detour. But it apparently didn't change the ranking order. Oh well, it was a nice day anyway. And another cold one coming up this weekend.
