Pictures on Website

Topic created by ErikEddy on Tue Nov 15, 2016 at 5:21 pmI am wondering if we can rotate in some new pictures on the website, especially ones within the last say 5 years. How can we do this? Once that's figured out, we can see who has pictures to share?

Reply by Vadim on Tue Nov 15, 2016 at 6:43 pmYou have to ask web master if that is possible. But from what I recall they are predefined in the code. Sounds like a good small project to change that piece and move it to database instead.

Reply by Steve on Tue Nov 15, 2016 at 9:40 pmwe used to do that, but with the popularity of some outside web photo sharing sites, the web masters discontinued it.

We don't need to post in here: http://www.dvoa.org/people/gallery/index.php (though maybe it's linked) but it would be nice to see some newer photos scattered thoughout the website on the sides of the pages.

Reply by kathyu on Wed Nov 16, 2016 at 5:51 pmThe club has permission to use any of my photos on FLiCKR. The best way to see them is to search on DVOA. Then you will get all DVOA images by all different photographers, but mostly Julie and me. Julie's are the best!

Reply by rgbortz on Wed Nov 16, 2016 at 8:46 pmNew pictures sure would be refreshing. Even the past webmaster who put the existing pictures on the website commented to us while visiting him during the North Americans about the "old" pictures and was curious with respect to no current, or at least newer pictures, being posted. Must be a way.Newer club members would probably like to see pictures relavent to their time in the club.Us oldies, but goodies, need to concentrate on the newer and younger members to breath more vibrant life into our fabulous club.

Reply by furlong47 on Thu Nov 17, 2016 at 9:51 amYes, you can use anything taken by me from my Flickr here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/furlong47/albumsOr SVO's here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/svophotos/albums (a handful of these were taken by other people. When you open the album it will say who the photographer(s) are under the album title.)

Reply by BobGross on Tue Nov 22, 2016 at 11:22 pmI created a Flickr group a couple years ago but never used it. Anyone with a Flickr gallery can join and upload photos from their gallery.Once we get a collection of images we can start to integrate some of them into the site.

Reply by ErikEddy on Fri Nov 25, 2016 at 12:57 pmThanks Bob! I put out a call on Facebook too. We should have a good start with pictures from Kathy, Julie, Petr... I have a few I will upload. This flickr site will also be a good resource for any FB posts too.
