Topic created by BRycharski on Wed Oct 26, 2016 at 1:33 pmTHIS is a reminder that HVO members are busily finishing preparations to Host DVOA and the general public at Silas Condict County Park, Kinnelon, NJ this next and last Oct sunday. A full slate of Orienteering courses are Planned, We are using E punch, and the Fall Leaf cover is at Peak color change, with only a few green leaves left. Troop 277 BSA Scouts are again assisting us with volunteers and a Hotdog grill and hot beverage's, please support them.We again will meet in the Large wooden pavilion at the top of the 1 mile long access road. All are welcome!Silas Condict is a medium size Park that had expanded to the west on a donated developers unbuildable rock ledge or hill top land features. Oak, Sassafras and Maple are the primary trees, with a few pine trees near the parking lots or near hill tops. Plenty of parking in the upper lots. One large Pond and one or two medium sized swamps are the primary water features, with plenty of side streams and re-entrants to explore. Lots of Granite cliffs and rock features to hide O flags behind, but plenty of Trails for the begginer courses, although most will have leaf cover due to the recent cold snap this weekend. Dogs allowed with leases. And again, do not worry about random bow hunters, hunting is not allowed in NJ on Sundays by Law.PLease remember to adjust your Saturday Car Clocks for daylight savings time, Starts will be open from 10 am to 2 pm but as it will get dark early Sunday afternoon, early starts are in order.Guy Olsen promises to post the course lengths shortly on the HVO website. See you there.

Reply by kathyu on Mon Oct 31, 2016 at 9:39 amThank you Guy, Bob, and all the people who helped make this event so much fun. The leaf covering on the trails made it challenging, but it was worth the long drive. Btw, will results be posted?

Reply by Guy-O on Mon Nov 7, 2016 at 7:43 amCould someone please post the link above to the results page? These results are "preliminary" since there is a LOT of cleanup that needs to be done before they can be finalized. After that, some guidance will be needed to submit for DVOA results formatting & RouteGadget. Regarding the latter, the courses were done on OCAD (v8?), not Condes (CS choice -- not mine!).
