The Annuanl General Meeting (AGM) of Orienteering USA will be held the afternoon of September 17th at the Hampton Inn in Danbury CT as part of the US Champs weekend.  For the first time in several years, there will be contested races for 5 spots on the Board of Directors.  Every OUSA member can vote if they are in attendance; if they are not, their club can send delegates to vote in their place.

Since there may be divided opinion in the club on which candidates to support, I thought I'd bring it to everyone's attention so that some discussion might take place before hand.  Candidate biographies and statements should be coming out soon.  (There may be other important issues on the agenda as well, but I haven't seen an agenda posted yet.)

Thanks Sandy-very important topic for the health of the sport.  I can help facilitate some of this conversation through Facebook and Eboard (perhaps via a SurveyMonkey Survey), but the information still seems pretty light (or at least scattered).  I will do some digging and if you have any solid resources on who is running and what they are running for that would be helpful (is it just general "Directors"?).  erikreddy@gmail.com

There's not a lot of official information posted that I can find.  Here is a link to the OUSA webpage that lists the current Directors and when their terms expire.  There is also information on where and when the AGM will take place.  However, I have not seen an official site that gives the candidate bios and statements yet for the people who are running.  I have heard - unofficially - that there are 9 people running for the 5 seats (4 terms endind, one seat vacant for the past year).  I think the way it works now is that the Board consists entirely of "Directors" who then select the various VP positions from amongst themselves.

The Agenda will be posted (according to the bylaws) at least 2 weeks prior to the AGM.  It should be sent out to the Secretary and President of the club and I imagine it will be posted on Attackpoint.

Thanks Sandy, this is the information needed.  I encourage everyone to read the bios and I will collect the OUSA members thoughts before we send our delegate.

I have a list of the OUSA DVOA members. I will try to reach out to you one at a time but may not have everyone's email. After reviewing the link Sandy posted, please email me at erikreddy@gmail.com with the number of votes you would give each candidate if you had exactly 9 votes (there are 9 candidates). For example you can give all 9 to one candidate or split it up 3-3-3 amongst 3 candidates (etc.) depending on how strongly you feel. Please let me know if you'd rather remain anonymous and I can set something up, but rest assured I respect everyone's opinion and want a fair representation of DVOA.

Since there are 5 Board seats up for election, you should probably only give people 5 votes...  Cool

There is a method to my madness. The 9 votes allows for more flexibility... for example, if you want to vote against 2, for one, but are in equal favor about the other 6 you can do 3 for AA, 1 for BB, 1 for CC, 1 for DD, 1 for EE, 1 for FF, 1 for GG.
