At 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, at the Hibernia event, the club leadership will be meeting to discuss plans for the club's hosting of national-level events this year and next (our 50th anniversary year!) All are welcome to attend and participate in the discussion.

Was anything decided about future national events?

Erik Eddy (the course setter) felt that the map was not up to our standards, and asked for the extra year to re map Hawk Mt. From there it was a no brainer, so 2016 as of now, no a event, 2017 Hawk Mt and Mt Penn. Remember, 2017 is our 50 year anniversary. All ideas are welcome

Just a random thought here, but do we have the logistical capability (facilities and legions of volunteers) to conduct a "5 days of O" type event?

Perhaps mix in an adventure type race as the MTB'ing at Hay Creek was so well received....

Wasn't at the meeting but I assumed it was a portion of Mt Penn that wasn't up to standard. Either way we need some mapping work done.  Re a multiday series, Yes I think we could pull off something if we get enough people willing to do the work.  We could do a bike O and night O at French Creek and Hay Creek. We have a base map of the Penn State Berks campus and the adjoining Berks Co Parks property that could become a sprint map.  That plus the other two days could extend the event to 4, maybe 5, days.

FWIW, this is the Topton watershed area:

Hugh Mac^4 showed me how to do this and I was doing some noodling around to make this basemap.  It is more for some hikign trails I mapped using a GPS.  The woods are not that white, but still pretty cool.
