Alternative Plans Should the Snowstorm Show Up Saturday?

Topic created by bobburg on Wed Jan 20, 2016 at 0:33 amEspecially since I live 90+ minutes from the Annual Meeting, I have some concern about the projected snowstorm for Saturday. I love running in the snow....not so much driving in it for several hours......While I fully appreciate the uncertainty of even short range "long range" forecasts, is the Board considering any contingency plans/alternative dates should we get the worst....or even something that discourages many of us? And as forecasts get closer, by when could we let everybody know?

Reply by Orienteer7 on Wed Jan 20, 2016 at 9:01 amDVOA members:The Executive Committee has been monitoring the weather report and has already come up with a contingent plan to move the events from this weekend to the next weekend. Winter Meeting on Saturday January 30th and President Cup event on Sunday February 1 at the same currently planned locations. Both Springton Manor and church officials(where the winter meeting is held) have open calendars for these dates and have approved these alternative dates should the event need to be postponed.As the safety of our membership is our utmost concern the officers will continue to monitor and will post to the web site as soon as a decision has been made based on more accurate forecasted conditions. It is expected that a final decision would be made no later than Friday late afteroon/early evening and will be posted here as soon as it is made. In addition DVOA will try to have any annoucement also released on KYW 1060.Stay tuned, stay warm and stay safe!
