Hickory Run Registration

By now the Hickory Run Training event registration should be open but is not because we are missing two key positions which are the course-setter for Saturday night O and event director for Sunday.
As the Saturday night O course setter you would be responsible for:
- Designing courses. Start needs to be at the infirmary and finish at the dining hall.
- Ensuring that flags get into and out of woods.
- Ensure flags and reflectors get to the event.
- Ensure that the flags and reflectors go to the next person on the event schedule after the event.
You would not be responsible for:
- Running the event on Saturday night.
- Registration.
- Printing the maps.
- e-punch.
As the Sunday event director you would be responsible for:
- Ensuring the kit gets to the event.
- Ensure the kit goes to the next person on the event schedule after the event.
- Getting workers for start.
- Arrange for control pick-up.
You would not be responsible for:
- Setting the courses.
- Registration.
- Printing the maps.
- e-punch.

Control pickup volunteers should be easy to capture at large events and you only need two start workers, one early and one late. Throwing the kit in your trunk and giving it so someone else up there isn't that taxing either. Most of the work is done prior to the event so the director should also be able to run a course.The night course setting is a bit more involved, but uses the small Daddy Allen map so most controls are a short walk from the car as you drive the loop. I'd be willing to do a preliminary set of courses if someone is willing check them out in the terrain, and be sure the rest of the follow up work happens.We need to confirm this event. It generates a lot of interest in the sport, is a great way for members to become comfortrable in moving up to a more challenging course, and is the main yearly social event for the club.

Reply by edscott on Thu Jun 25, 2015 at 8:50 pm...and I'll be up there doing a beginner camp program this week and can streamer all but two or three controls on the advanced night course. Now c'mon, someone should be able to finish the job.....9:12..OK Advanced = 10 controls, 5.17K, 125 M climb. All but two controls plus the final control will be streamered this week.

Start workers.. 2 people one early one lateControl pick up.. three or four people who will go back in the woods after they have run their course. It is seldom a problem finding enough help.We need to wrap this up this week so the preregistration information for the weekend can be released. The club can not afford to lose this event. The attendence has probably already been affected by this delay. -
