Latest Update about 4 Mile Circle This Sunday

We only had an inch of snowcover (at most) before today, and so far today's constant but light snow has added another 3 or 4". If the rest of the day doesn't go crazy (along with Saturday's above-freezing temps and sun all afternoon), Sunday should end up being a great day for orienteering. Sunny with 40+ degree temperatures -- a veritable heat wave.
As we get more news, we'll pass it along in this thread over the next couple of days. Stay tuned.

This event should prove to be a fitting start to DVOA's "Spring" schedule, as well as an ode to one of the coldest winters ever in the Delaware Valley. NJ got considerably less snowfall than PA (maybe 4"-6" at 4 Mile Circle), which will be reduced by half by Sunday's event. We will be hanging flags (bright orange in a totally white landscape!) tomorrow. Tune in for the latest update Saturday night (by now tonight), runnable walkable in the final vestiges of winter's wonderland 2015, all in mid-40's sun. Come for the adventure, and bring a change of clothes (especially footware) for after you've run your course. We're thinking this could be historic FUN.

So you runners who have been slackers over the winter, get ready for a jump start on your spring training. For everyone at a more leisurely pace, it is a pinelands winter wonderland, snow cover anywhere from 2" to 5" (and reducing once the sun's up). And we've already started the eventual elephant tracks that will mark your courses like laser beams. (It's just a matter of whether you can trust them.)
Just know that flags are low to the ground with the snow reaching up to them, but they are bright orange when you reach them. Hope you join us -- it will certainly be one of the most unique events of the year, and a fitting end to this record winter. See you in the woods.
For all you photographers, this is definitely a photo alert day.
Oh! And remember that we start at 10am, formerly known as 11am. Did you remember to turn your clocks ahead? Your smart phones and computers did....... -
