Big Welcome to Scouts and JROTC and Everyone Who Loves Orienteering
20th Annual NJ Scout and JROTC Championships
Due to a last-minute complication (which arose just today), we have needed to switch this Saturday’s NJ Championships to (ironically) Pennsylvania’s Tyler State Park in Newtown PA. The orienteering technique for doing this is called “Relocation.” Tyler is the closest venue to Washington Crossing among DVOA’s maps, Tyler’s facility and security staffs are very cooperative (took about 2 hours to get approval for this change), parking is more than ample, and we invite you all to change your GPS coordinates and join us in our new digs.
Check out this link to see Google map and directions to Tyler
We are contacting all the Scout and JROTC leaders tonight to announce the change. Here is DVOA’s website link to Tyler directions. Mary Frank and Bob Burg will be designing the courses in the next 2 days, and our event will be up and running for Starts to begin by 10am
We welcome scouts, cadets, and orienteers of all types to come enjoy our courses. (We will post course stats as soon as possible.) Just an example of how Orienteering is the “thinking sport,” making course corrections on the fly.
See you in the woods this Saturday with big smiles and welcomes for all.
We invite you all to our annual NJ ChampionshipIf you haven’t heard, this is a BIG event. Last year’s total attendance approached 700 participants, so it is definitely an O-Celebration to enjoy in the park’s Autumnal beauty. And given our recent climate, it will surely be Indian Summer with just a tinge of Fall colors.
For Scouts, Venture Crews, and JROTC: If you haven’t already received our Registration Packet, please download the accompanying documents (links below), share it with other troop and unit leaders you know, and submit it to our Registrars as soon as possible. If you have any further questions, please contact Event Director and Course Setter Bob Burg – bburgATcomcast.net – (856) 258-2859.

Early Bird - Intention to Attend
Registration Entry FormFor DVOA Members and the Orienteering Public: Come join us for a full set of courses (White through Red) on Saturday. To avoid the rush of Scouts and JROTC, we suggest that you to start your course between Noon and 1:30pm. You may, of course run at any time, from 10am on. We would greatly appreciate your help during the early hours when we are managing hundreds of scouts and cadets, or at completion of the day to collect everything for departure. As ever, see you in the woods.
