Meals:

Thursday dinner, breakfast and lunch at PEEC are available only as part of the packages listed below.

Friday dinner:  THe FRIDAY DINNER HAS SOLD OUT*. This is not included in any of the lodging packages.  It is available for $12.50 per person ($10 for ages 6-12; under 6 free) and will be served in the dining hall at PEEC.  It will include a salad bar, pasta, vegetarian and meat sauces, vegetables and rolls.  Limited to 200 people.  Singer/songwriter Eric Langberg will be performing during dinner. 6:30-8:00pm

Saturday banquet:  THE BANQUET HAS SOLD OUT*.  This is not included in any of the lodging packages.  It is available for $20.00 per person ($16.00 for ages 6-12; under 6 free) and will be served in the dining hall at PEEC.  Dinner will be a choice of Fettuccini Alfredo, Chicken Parmesan or Lemon Tilapia, garlic mashed potatoes, vegetable medley, salad bar, rolls and fresh fruit Napoleon for dessert.  Limited to 200 people.  6:30-8:00pm

Friday Evening Beer Tasting:

The beer tasting has SOLD OUT.  Tickets may be available at the door. On Friday evening, from 5:30 - 6:30 a brewmaster from a local brewery will be at PEEC.  Attendees will be able to sample several of their artisanal beers and hear about the craft of brewing beer.  ID required.  $12 per person.

Saturday Afternoon Ice Cream Social:

The ice cream social has SOLD OUT.  Tickets will likely be available at the door.  On Saturday afternoon from 3:30 - 4:30, there will be an ice cream social in the dining hall at PEEC.  Tickets are $6.  Proceeds benefit the US Junior Team.

Lodging:

POCONO ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER (PEEC):  HOUSING AT PEEC IS SOLD OUT.

There are two housing packages for those competitors wishing to stay at the Pocono Environmental Education Center, the event center.

  • Thursday through Sunday: This package includes housing Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, Thursday dinner (BBQ chicken, rice pilaf, vegetable, salad), Friday breakfast, Friday lunch, Saturday breakfast and Saturday lunch, and Sunday breakfast and Sunday lunch.  Thursday dinner is 6:30-8:00pm in the PEEC dining hall.
  • Friday through Sunday: This package includes housing Friday and Saturday nights, Saturday breakfast and Saturday lunch and Sunday breakfast and Sunday lunch. 
  • Lunches are bag lunches and need to be picked up at breakfast.  Lunches will include two sandwiches, a granola bar and fruit (no drinks).  Breakfast is served in the PEEC dining hall - cafeteria style - and will include hot and cold items.  There will be vegetarian and peanut-free options.  Breakfast is 7-8:30 on Friday and Saturday and 6-7:30 on Sunday.  The first half hour is cold items only; the last hour includes hot items.
  • Housing at PEEC is in cabins and yurts.  ALL CABINS AND YURTS ARE NOW TAKEN.  There are some large cabins that sleep 20 and smaller ones that sleep 6-12.  The yurts are heated, sleep 8-12 and have a large nearby shower house.
  • If you register for one of the above options, the housing coordinator - Valerie Meyer - will assign you to a cabin or yurt.  If you have special requests (such as a preference for one or the other or for specific roommates or you would like to reserve an entire cabin), please contact us.
  • All beds in the cabins and yurts are wooden bunk beds with a mattress.   A linen package (sheets, towel, washcloth, pillow, pillowcase and blanket) will be available for $12 or you may bring your own.
  • Parking: Parking for the weekend will be at a premium.  Those staying at PEEC will be able to park near their cabins/yurts.  The model event is adjancent to PEEC, parking for the Friday Middle distance event is a short drive from PEEC, shuttle buses will run from PEEC to the Saturday Long distance event, and the Sprint and Relay arena is on the PEEC campus.  More details available on the Directions page.
  • Housing at PEEC will be limited to approximately 200 people.
FEES:
  • Thursday - Sunday package:  $150 per person, $30 discount ages 6-12, free for under 6
  • Friday - Sunday package:  $110 per person, $20 discount ages 6-12, free for under 6
  • Linens (for either package): $12 per person

NOTE: Cabin/yurt assignments are being made in the order in which they are requested and paid for.  If you have contacted the Housing Coordinator about staying at PEEC and made requests about your accommodations and/or cabinmates but not yet paid in full, please note that until payment is made the arrangements are not guaranteed.

CAMPING

There is no camping available at PEEC.

 

HOTELS and RESORTS IN THE AREA

The Pocono Mountains Convention and Visitors Bureau maintains a comprehensive list of motels, hotels, inns, B&B's and resorts in the area.  Many popular chains have locations in the Stroudburg area (about 35 km south of PEEC) or the Milford area (about 25 km north of PEEC).

 

 

 

The Fernwood Hotel and Resort is the closest to PEEC, about a 10 minute drive.  In addition to regular hotel rooms, they also have villas with full kitchens that sleep 2-6.  They are offering NAOC participants a discount; please use this link.


The Hampton Inn in Matamoras, PA is just north of the Delaware Water Gap and about a 20 minute drive to the event center (less to the Friday Middle Distance parking).  They are offering NAOC participants a discount if you use this link.  Note that the discount applies to Oct. 17 - Oct. 22 but you do not need to stay all 5 nights.

Bushkill Inn is a brand new facility opening in July, 2012.  They offer high end accommodations including modern rooms, fine dining experinces as well as a relaxing spa. There is free WiFi through out the hotel as well as a complete business center.  Call for reservations and mention NAOC 2012 to receive a 5% discount.
