ED/CS Notes:

All starts will be about 100 m. from the campground dining hall and all finishes will be at the front of the dining hall.

Dark green on the map is usually rhododendron and the medium green is usually mountain laurel.  Getting through dark green may require some crawling.  There are sometimes deer trails through the laurel.  The green vegetation boundaries have expanded a bit in places but can still be used as rough navigational aids.

As of one week before the event, most water features (ponds and marshes) had some water but they can dry up quickly.  Even without water they are distinguishable from the surrounding terrain.

WHITE course:  A couple of trails have become somewhat overgrown and there will be orange streamers marking them.  The course does require a 100 m. walk along the edge of a park road.  Most of the traffic on the road will be people coming to the event.  Take care.

The blue course is the only one crossing (and recrossing) a major park road.  All courses, except white and yellow, will cross a narrow park road that parallels Hickory Run.  There is a pedestrian bridge crossing Hickory Run at a location where a water stop will be located.  Advanced courses will have one or two other water stops at control locations.  There are no water stops on the white and yellow courses as they remain in the campground area.
