ED/CS Notes:
For this Sunday’s Fair Hill event, we will be parking and registering in a parking lot we have never used before. The entrance to this lot is located on the north side of route 273, and is 280 meters west of the main entrance to Fair Hill. There will be the usual signs to show you the way.
The Mason-Dixon map is still quite accurate. However, the green is somewhat greener and multi-flora rose is slowly invading the open forest. The fight is all but impossible to pass through. There are also new rootstocks not shown on the map. The trail system is, for the most part, accurate. While orienteering, it is important to pay close attention to these trails. And, with the recent rains, some of the trails are muddy and slippery.
While none of the courses cross any heavily traveled roads in the park, the Red course does cross two internal roads. Although not heavily traveled, be careful while crossing these roads.
Please be aware there will be other events going on in the park on Sunday. Most of these will involve horses. Be aware of horses on some of the trails. Horses have the right of way. Please be considerate of the riders and their horses.
I-95 will be closed in both directions at rte. 202. Take I-495 around
Wilmington. The ramp from 202 southbound onto 95 southbound will be open,
but sure to be congested with rerouted traffic. For more details see here.
