Course Setter Notes

Welcome to the rolling hills of central New Jersey, with broad campsite fields, intricate trail system, seasonal marsh and stream beds, featuring plenty of Sandy’s rootstocks, especially in advanced course areas.  Being an annual event for scouts and cadets, we do invite DVOA members to help us with managing the morning crush, then go out on a course a little later. The general public is as always warmly welcomed.

And for those Red and Blue runners who are staying home this weekend rather than go Trolling, we have a special Red/Blue course of 8.5k (printed on 2 back-to-back maps) that will give you plenty of distance to stretch out your legs and get your cardio in.   Note that the fee for this event will include $1 extra to cover the per head fee the camp charges us.

Remember Quail Hill is 1:5000 scale, 2.5m intervals.

The map was newly updated in 2015 with additional revision this year.

From Event Director Bob Rycharski

We hope you come out to the Quail Hill local event in mid April. This event gets young scouts and cadets into the woods to experience and learn about the great sport of orienteering. The cost to attend this event is $1 per person above the regular DVOA prices to help defray Camp access fees.  Scout and JROTC leaders MUST contact the Registrar Bob Rycharski - see the instructions at www.scoutorienteering.com, before 10 April. New this year is a request for parents\' signature on a DVOA Scout/Cadet permission slip for OUSA insurance reasons. Please see that form posted at www.Scoutorienteering.com. Leaders, please bring the permission forms with you to the event.  Contact ED Bob Rycharski if you have questions or can\'t download the permission slip.

Please check the DVOA Volunteers page on this website to help us staff this local NJ event.

No Dogs allowed in camp.  Due to somewhat limited parking, please car pool.
