Come join us on Derby Weekend for a run in the mud and briars The colder than normal weather this Spring has delayed the proliferation of undergrowth leaves but the above average temperature this week has allowed some catch-up. Dark green on the map should always be avoided but the light green is passable as one can pick their way through these areas. Courses White through Brown will not be technically difficult and if you have been thinking about moving up a level this would be the event to do so. There will be plenty of water stops on the advanced courses and there is at least one water stop on the beginner and advanced beginner level courses. Expect wet ground as the rain just doesn’t seem to want to stop this week…but the weekend should be just wonderful. Start and Finish are in close proximity of registration area which will be at the just above the Pool facility. Bathrooms should be open near the Pool facility but there are also bathrooms at the Park office and near the west end of Hopewell Lake. You can stop there on the way into the park. Extra control descriptions will be available at registration for those who like to carry theirs separately but all maps will have descriptions on the back of the map as usual. With climb minimized I would expect some very fast times for those competing and an very enjoyable soggy footing day in the woods for those coming for a walk or hike. See you on Sunday
