On-line Registration

Please Note:  If you register for M-21+ or W-21+ you will be included in the WRE.  There are no exceptions to this.  Please check the WRE box when registering if you sign up for M-21+ or W-21+.  Competitors in the WRE will have start times assigned by random draw - no start time requests will be accommodated.  There is a mandatory quarantine for all WRE runners in the Sprint; runners need to check into the quarantine area by 7:30am on Sunday morning.

We strongly encourage on-line registration.  Payment may be made by PayPal, major credit card or check.  If paying by check, please make checks  payable to DVOA and mail to Doug Sevon,  1608 Braeburn Terrace, Lansdale, PA 19446.

Refund Policy:

  • Full refund if requested before August 1.
  • Full refund less $10 processing fee if requested by September 1.
  • Full refund less $30 processing fee if requested by October 1.
  • No refunds after October 1 unless extraordinary circumstances.

Team Relays:

Information on the team relays has been sent to the President of each Federation in the North American region.  Each Federation has been asked to name a contact person for the team relays.   Final team rosters will be due Saturday, October 20 at 3pm. Each federation in the North American region may enter up to two (2) teams in each of the 4 categories: elite men, elite women, junior men and junior women.  There is a $50 entry fee per entered team.

A souvenir relay guide will be on sale for spectators.  It will include biographical information of competitors as well as relay maps.  Proceeds from the sale of the guide will be donated to participating teams.

SI-Card Rental Fee:

  • $3 per person per race

Maps for Purchase:

  • Model event map: $3 if pre-ordered (will be in registration packet); $5 at the event.  The model event will be open Thursday afternoon and Friday.
  • Maps from previous events at the Water Gap:  Maps of Stuckey Pond and Spackman Creek may be ordered during registration.  They will be mailed to participants if ordered before October 1.  The maps are 1:15,000.  $5 for one map or $8 for both.  They will also be available for purchase at the event for $5 a map.

Recreational Courses:

Beginner courses will be available each day at $10 per map.  No advanced registration required, but an email to the Registrar would be appreciated if you will be a large group needing several maps.

First Time A-Event Attendees:

If this is your first time attending an OUSA sanctioned A-event, you are eligible for a $20 rebate from OUSA.  Print the rebate, fill it in, bring it to the event for the Registrar to sign and then submit it to OUSA.

ELIGIBILITY

  • NAOC 2012 is open to all competitors; anyone is eligible to compete in the Middle distance event, the Long distance event and the Sprint.

  • The Relay competition is open only to teams representing North American countries that are members of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF) in the North American Region.  There are 4 divisions: senior men, senior women, junior men and junior women.  Each eligible country may enter up to two teams in each division.  Juniors are those born in 1992 or later.

  • The M21 and F21 categories for the Middle, Long and Sprint have been designated as the IOF Regional Championships for the North American region.  Eligibility rules for being named IOF Regional Champion for the North American Region in these classes are given below.  Anyone may run in these classes; however, only those eligible will be awarded medals.

  • The M21 and F21 races in the Middle, Long and Sprint will be World Ranking Events (WREs).  In the event that other age classes run the same course as M21 or F21, competitors in those classes will be eligible for WRE points.  All competitors in the M21 and F21 class will be entered in the WRE and must abide by WRE rules.

  • Normal U.S. age categories (M10, F10, M12, F12, etc.) will be offered on appropriate courses.  Eligibility rules for being named North American Champion in these classes are given below.  (There will be additional prizes for the top 3 regardless of eligibility in each class.)  Note that in M21 and F21 there will be both North American Champions and IOF Regional Champions for the North American region.

  • Open classes will be available for those that prefer not to run in their age category.  There are no eligibility restrictions and there will be no awards given in these classes.

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE TITLE OF IOF REGIONAL CHAMPION FOR THE NORTH AMERICAN REGION

To be eligible for the IOF Regional Champion for the North American Region, a competitor must be a member of an IOF federation in the North American region and a passport holding citizen of the country in which they hold federation membership.

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE TITLE OF NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION

To be eligible for the North American championship title, a competitor must be a member of an IOF federation in the North American region and a citizen or legal permanent resident of the country in which they hold federation membership.

BK CUP and FUTURE CHAMPIONS CUP

The Björn Kjellström Cup, named after a Swede who was instrumental in introducing orienteering in North America, has been a competition between the national teams of the USA and Canada at the senior level since 1980. It is held every two years at the North American Orienteering Championships.

For 2012, the competition is open to teams from any country that is a member of the International Orienteering Federation in the North American Region.  There will now also be a team competition between the countries at the junior level, with the Future Champions Cup awarded to the winning team.  Please see the BK and Future Champions Cup page for details on eligibility and scoring.
