General Club Information
The Delaware Valley Orienteering Association (DVOA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1967 and is the oldest civilian orienteering club in the United States. In 1991, DVOA became the largest of the over 70 clubs affiliated with the United States Orienteering Federation (USOF). DVOA currently has approximately 700 members. DVOA's primary goals are to promote orienteering through educational programs and provide a variety of quality orienteering experiences for people in eastern Pennsylvania, northern Delaware, northern Maryland and central and southern New Jersey. DVOA holds approximately 45 orienteering events a year at various local, state, national parks, and environmental centers in the area. These events are open to the public and DVOA always provides instruction for beginners. In addition, DVOA Educational Services volunteers teach over 40 introductory programs a year for various organizations including Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, school groups from the elementary level through adult continuing education programs, and corporations.
